Cushions I've Made So Far...

I have made different styles and size of cushions over the years and decided it would be quicker to make a video up of what I have made instead of adding all the pictures individually.

Cushions are one of my favourite items to make along with blankets as I love watching them grow.

Round & square cushions come with either a Zip or Button fastening. The Stars are the only cushion that will come stuffed.
Please take a look at Sammii Made Me on Facebook and send me a message.

Cross Stitches I've Made So Far...

Today I have been working on some work in progress videos. I decided to make them because I love seeing how my work grows. Especially when it comes to blankets and cross stitching..
I thought it would be easier to share any work in videos instead of uploading loads of pictures one after the other.

These are the video's I have done so far:

Most of the videos that I have made of the work in progress for are available on my Facebook page Sammii Made Me (link opens in new window)

Helping Raise Money For Charity..

Raising money for charity is something that I have been doing quite often over the years.

I started with an event in my local town around 11 years ago by holding an 80's Night. We had a retro disco everyone was to dress up in their neon gear and 80's outfits etc. It was a really good night. Unfortunately I cannot remember how much we raised that night, I believe it could've been around £200 if not more!

Since then I have made items for a friend who runs a page for Angel Babies on facebook. I offered a few times to make items for her auctions to help raise money for a charity she supports called SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Charity) if you've not heard of them before then please click here. Note: link opens in a new window.

The plan now is to work out different charities that I would like to help support by making certain items for said charity and donating a percentage per purchase.

Poppy Appeal Note: link opens in a new window.
This is to help raise funds for the Armed Forces and British Legion. Every year around October/November you're able to donate money to get a Poppy that you wear throughout these months ready for Remembrance Day on 11th November. Every year there is a parade that walks through our town and finishes up at the cenotaph outside town hall. I was in this parade at one point years ago when I was a girl guide.
I had made my family members a poppy each using sparkle red wool and green for the leaves and used a safety eye for the middle of the poppy to keep everything in place. Then attached a broach pin to the back so that they could be worn.
My plan is to make as many of them as I can and donate a percentage to this charity.

Another plan I have is to make and sell Octopus for Premature Babies.
(They can also be given to a Newborn baby or given as a baby shower gift)

The octopus is made to help comfort and distract your baby from holding onto any wires or tubes the baby may need whilst in the hospital. From what I have been reading, it has been proven that whilst in the womb babies tend to hold on to their umbilical cord which makes them feel safe and secure. The way the octopus are made it helps remind the baby of the umbilical cord which they can hold instead of the wires or tubes the baby needs.
Other than giving them to a premature baby they will also have the same impact on a newborn baby because as I said the tentacles remind them of their umbilical cord..

Over time I will be thinking of more things that I can potentially do to help raise money for the different charities.. Watch this space..

Blankets I Have Made...

My current task is to sit and make up some blankets to try and build myself a portfolio of some kind to show case all that I can make and what I have made in the past for friends/family etc.

I love making blankets.. I always have, they can take me anything up to a couple of days to a few weeks. It more or less depends on how big the blanket and what is wanted.

So far, the blankets I have made:

  • 12 Point Star
  • Corner 2 Corner
  • Granny Square
  • Granny Stripe
  • Mermaid Tail
  • Ripple
  • Graphgans
  • Puff Spike Blanket
  • Granny Corner 2 Corner
  • 5 Point Star

Most of the blankets I have made are for babies, so I always make them pram sized which is 30x35in. But I have made a couple that weren't for Babies. Which was a Double Bed Corner 2 Corner which I did in Rainbow Colours. And the Mermaid Tail was made for my friends 9 yr old daughter.

Blankets can be made in any size, shape, colour etc. They can also be personalized as well as I have made 2 so far that are personalized with names :)

Hello And Welcome To My Blog...

I created this blog because I wanted to share what I can make and my work in progress in how things start and finish.

In 2013 I started Cross Stitching first. This was because I saw what my sister was making and I fell in love with it and the idea of making something so I picked up a mini kit in a craft shop and then started buying magazines that had free kits with them. I found a beautiful Noah's Ark that I made for my Nephews Christening later that year. I have not made anything that big since.
But, I have made loads of little bits with kits

A year later in 2014 I taught myself how to Crochet. I was talking to a friend on Facebook and we decided between us that we were gonna learn how to Crochet. So I went out and brought myself wool and hooks and made a start. I only made little bits to start off with, but I haven't looked back and have come so far with what I can make, and I am still learning as I go.

In 2016, after buying loads of Knitting & Crochet Magazines that I brought for the Crochet patterns I decided that I was going to relearn how to knit. I did learn to knit when I was younger by my Nan but I stopped and don't know why. I could never cast on or off again my Nan used to do that for me! But I learnt how to do it from my magazine doing the basic knit stitch and got my friend to help me when I wanted to learn to Purl. I struggled to start off with as I followed a basic pattern to make an Apple Pin Cushion and asked for her help, she wasn't able to work it out so asked me to talk to her Grandma and that's when I found out that I was doing it all backwards lol.
I got so better and have been making plenty of bits since!

My creativity doesn't stop at Knitting, Crochet & Cross Stitching, I can make jewellery, I have made Bracelets, Necklaces, Keyrings and more. I also use moulds and cookie cutters to make things out of clay. It is a very long process as I use Air Drying Clay so depending on the weather or how warm it is in general will vary on the drying time. When Clay items are dry, I use Acrylic Paint and a Glaze to protect it.
I have never thought of using Fimo but if I can get my page working then I will consider it because it would be quicker than using air drying clay.

I have a page on Facebook called Sammii Made Me which I set up because I love to help people.

All my items that I have made is made to order. I decided to do this because it meant that item's could be made from scratch and could be personalized if it is required.
I am in the process of making items that are ready to sell as well as that way I can also offer personalized and unpersonalized items for everyone.
